Hawaiian Hibiscus
5 oz / 142 g · 25–30 hour burn · Coconut soy wax
Light it on a grey day and the room smells like a warm holiday. The pink wax hibiscus on top is moulded and set on by hand, so it is a candle people pick up and look at. It suits a bathroom or a bedroom that needs some colour.

How to use
Hawaiian Hibiscus is a 5 oz jar with a moulded wax hibiscus and leaf on top.
- First burn: let the melted wax reach the glass on all sides, which needs two to three hours. A short first burn makes a tunnel down the centre and wastes wax.
- Before each burn, cut the wick to 6 mm. A short wick keeps soot off the pink wax flower.
- After four hours, put the flame out. Let the wax set before you light it again.
- In a bathroom, put the jar away from the shower and open windows. Moving air makes the flame flicker and smoke.
- Do not leave the candle lit in an empty room. Keep it out of reach of children and pets.
- The wax hibiscus and leaf soften and melt into the pool during the first burns. This is normal.
- When 1 cm of wax is left, put the candle out and do not light it again. Below this level, the glass can get too hot.

Frequently asked questions
What does the Hawaiian Hibiscus candle smell like?
Ripe berries, orange and peach at the top. Pink hibiscus and melon with a fresh sea salt note in the middle. White clove and coconut wood underneath. Real hibiscus has only a faint scent, so this fragrance adds the smells of the places where it grows: tropical fruit, green leaves and sea air.
Is the flower on top real?
No. It is coconut soy wax with a green wax leaf beside it. Nothing on this candle is food. It melts into the wax pool as the candle burns, which is by design.
How long does a 5 oz candle burn?
25 to 30 hours. The range depends on how long you burn it each time and how draughty the room is. Short burns and open windows both shorten it.
Why is my candle burning down the middle?
That is tunnelling, and it is set on the first burn. Let a new candle burn until the melted wax reaches the edge of the jar, which takes two to three hours. After that the candle remembers the wider pool.
Is coconut soy different from plain soy?
Yes. Coconut wax holds fragrance oil better than soy alone, so the scent stays even through the burn. Our glass jars are coconut soy. Our 3.5 oz tins are pure soy.
Is it safe to burn around pets?
Usually, yes. But each pet is different, and some pets are sensitive to some scents. Keep the flame and the hot jar out of reach, burn the candle in a room with fresh air, and make sure your pet can go to another room. If your pet shows discomfort, put the candle out. Ask your vet if your pet has a breathing problem.
