Gist of Light is a sole proprietorship operating in Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada. We sell handmade coconut-soy candles and related products through our website at gistoflight.com and at local Okanagan markets. For questions, contact us at gistoflight@gmail.com.

By using gistoflight.com, you confirm that you are at least 18 years of age, or that you are using the site under the supervision of a parent or legal guardian. You agree to use our website only for lawful purposes and in a way that does not infringe the rights of others.
We reserve the right to restrict access to any part of the site, or to the entire site, at any time without notice. We may update or remove content without prior notice.
3. Orders & contract
When you place an order through gistoflight.com, you are making an offer to purchase a product. That offer is accepted — and a binding contract is formed — when we send you an order confirmation email. We reserve the right to cancel or refuse any order at our discretion, including in cases of pricing errors, suspected fraud, or product unavailability. If we cancel your order, you will receive a full refund.
All prices are listed in Canadian dollars (CAD) and include applicable taxes. Prices are subject to change without notice. The price charged is the one displayed at checkout.
4. Payment
We accept major credit and debit cards through our secure payment processor, Stripe. Payment is collected in full at the time of purchase. We do not store your card details — all payment data is handled by Stripe in accordance with their security standards (PCI-DSS compliant).
5. Products
Our candles are handmade in batches. Because they are handcrafted, minor variations in colour, texture, and fragrance intensity may occur between batches. These are normal characteristics of handmade goods and are not defects.
Candle colours shown in product photos may vary slightly due to lighting, screen calibration, and natural wax variation.
Candle safety — important
By purchasing our candles, you acknowledge and agree to follow safe candle use practices:
- Never leave a burning candle unattended
- Keep out of reach of children and pets
- Burn on a heat-resistant surface, away from flammable materials
- Do not burn for more than 4 hours at a time
- Trim the wick to 6mm before each burn
- Discontinue use when 1cm of wax remains
Gist of Light is not liable for any damage, injury, or loss caused by improper candle use.
6. Intellectual property
All content on gistoflight.com — including the Gist of Light name and logo, product photography, scent names, written descriptions, and all website copy — is the property of Gist of Light and is protected under Canadian copyright and intellectual property law.
You may not reproduce, copy, distribute, or use any of our content without written permission. Sharing our content on social media with proper attribution is welcome and appreciated.
7. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, Gist of Light shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of our website or products. Our total liability to you for any claim shall not exceed the amount you paid for the specific product giving rise to the claim.
We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events outside our reasonable control, including but not limited to postal delays, natural disasters, pandemics, or supplier disruptions.
